Eusko Ikaskuntza and the 7 universities of the Basque Country present a new programme to promote and support research

Three scholarships will be awarded for projects submitted by PhD, Master's and 5th year undergraduate students in the 2024-2025 academic year.

The first call for applications for the programme to promote and support research has just been launched and will remain open until 22 November. This is an initiative promoted by the University of the Basque Country, the University of Deusto, Mondragon University, the Public University of Navarra, the University of Navarra, the National University of Distance Education, the University of Pau and the Adour Countries and Eusko Ikaskuntza itself.

The aim of the programme is to promote the initial analysis of future research topics, boost the work of the first months and facilitate the development of the "state of the art" of the next lines of research. Specifically, three grants will be offered for the 2024-2025 academic year, for an amount of 2,000 euros each. PhD students, master's students or students in their 4th and 5th year of double degrees, either individually or in groups, may apply.

The president of Eusko Ikaskuntza, Ana Urkiza, explained that "this first call is part of the framework agreement signed in 2021 with the universities of Euskal Herria to promote and strengthen cooperation and research topics in our field." In fact, the presentation of the program took place after the celebration of the XIX Congress, at the beginning of this month. In fact, "it is a clear example of the importance of collaboration to respond to the roadmap defined by Eusko Ikaskuntza "at the Congress", to join forces, strengthen alliances and continue to make the journey together," Urkiza pointed out.

The programme coordinator, Javier Arrieta, has specified that "the call is open in terms of topics, but thirteen priority themes for multidisciplinary research have been established." He also added that "the proposals may be made in Basque, Spanish or French, but Basque will have priority as the language for developing the research."
