The artistic project "Adarbakarra eta soinujolea" by Maite Aizpurua and Garazi Navas has been awarded the Gazte Saria.
The linguist Itziar Laka Mugarza is the winner of the Eusko Ikaskuntza-LABORAL Kutxa 2024 Award for outstanding CV, an award that since 1995 has distinguished the best curricula in Humanities, Culture, Arts and Social Sciences, and in whose election representatives take part of the seven universities in the geographical area of Eusko Ikaskuntza, in addition to the two granting entities and Musikene.
Itziar Laka Mugarza has made innovative and far-reaching contributions to the development of Basque and the deepening of the mechanisms that govern linguistic competences. In 2010 I created the first research group on experimental linguistics and neurolinguistics. She has been principal researcher in various Basque, state and international projects, and has participated as a speaker at national and international conferences. Likewise, his teaching experience has led him to teach at universities in different countries.
The promotion of the use of Basque at the university and in society is a key dimension in Itziar Laka's career. He is currently in charge of the Basque Language Promotion Directorate of the Vice-Rector's Office for Basque Language, Culture and Internationalization of the UPV/EHU. And in collaboration with the Basque Institute of the UPV/EHU, it has promoted the translation into Basque of classic works of linguistics. In parallel to his academic and research work, his contribution to the dissemination of science and scientific culture is notable.
In its ruling, the jury pointed out how Itziar Laka %u201Cha banished with scientific evidence some of the previously existing myths around bilingualism, with a clear contribution not only to Basque but also to linguistics%u201D . Thus, Itziar Laka's high-level research and dissemination activities have unquestionable value for science, culture and Basque society as a whole.
On the other hand, the Eusko Ikaskuntza-LABORAL Kutxa Gazte Saria Award in its sixth edition has gone to Garazi Navas and Maite Aizpurua , authors of the performative project %u201C Adarbakarra eta soinujolea %u201D. This proposal aims to delve into the Basque imaginary, mythology and cultural references with a queer-feminist and contemporary perspective, seeking to update its elements from interdisciplinarity (music, literature and theater).
