Summary

This study analyses and defines the use of the term "gender violence" and its application in the Basque press, in the period comprised between September 2003 to June 2004, both inclusive. There is terminological confusion, a tendency to put aside the expression gender violence both in Basque and in Spanish, influenced by the polemic generated in the written press in the months of May, June and July 2004 on the merits and demerits of using such a term.
