Summary

This work pretends to illustrate the considerable transformations experienced by Bilbao over the last decades, using the economic and social data available. The most recent theories on urban growth and the predictions derived from each of them explain what has happened in Bilbao and, more specifically, they can suggest possible forms of growth and transformation for the future of the metropolis.
