This work analyses the scope of the trends and movements that have been designated traditionalist, impressionist and "art nouveau" in painting in the Basque Country over the last few decades of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. A "state of the issue" is outlined on this period that been essential for the configuration of Basque art.
