Summary

The second volume of "la tonadilla escenica" provides some data on the Basque Country that are presented in the article. The Scenic Popular Song was a scene of short duration, spoken or sung and of satirical or roguish character. The characters in some instances were danced or sang elements of their land and there is a Biskaian dance and a "Song of Biscay" .The song is "Iru Damatxo" the lyrics and music of which is transcribed in this article. It is important to state that, with small differences, songs were sung in the same way in the 18th century (1784) as they are now
