Summary

The House of Cuadra is an example that shows the importance of family strategies on the control of the power in traditional communities. It was a powerful family coming from Western Biscay which played an important leading role in the local political framework during the XVIII century. This paper analyses the strategies that allowed the House of Cuadra to control the power and which show the colective strategies of the dominant group.
