Summary

During the Ancient Regime, before the Revolution, Lapurdi was administered by a "regidor" that was appointed by the King. The "regidor" had assistants like the lieutenant general, that is was entrusted with judicial power, and the syndic general that was entrusted with financial and administrative tasks even though he was not a real officer but was elected by the Bilçar of Ustaritz. The first syndic mentioned in Lapurdi, in 1513 is given a list with the names of the syndics from 1513 until 1789
