Summary

Neighbourhood groupings and guilds in Modern-Age Vitoria had strong religious characteristics (patron saint festivities, processions, etc.), which brought about close social relationships and encouraged community ties. Such events, tinged with festive - profane features, were also the origin of conflicts within the community itself, provoking hatred and disputes among its members.
