Summary

The author tries to discover the origin of Basque popular music. He studies popular music in Spain (Andalusian songs, jotas, etc.), in Italy, Germany and France where finds there is a relation between Basque and Breton folklore. By studying the origin of both peoples and supposing that the Basque people is not Iberian but Celtic, this would imply a relation with other Celtic peoples, such as the Welsh and he did, in fact, find similarities. However he did not find such similarities in Ireland and Scotland although he did find them in the songs of the Isle of Man and Norway and Sweden. He then studies the lyrics of the songs
