Summary
Despite being a rite characterized by its estereotyping, formality and repetition, the Marijeses of Gernika have undergone many changes in their morfology, structure and significance, as a consequence of historical, socio-political, economic or urbanistic processes. The analysis of their spaces and times reveals us a contextualised process and it brings us to the concept of performance, bringing under the spotlight its new semantics as well as the essentially dynamic nature of such traditional cultural manifestations.
