Summary

Through this research we study the sculptor Andres de Araoz´s work. He sculpted during the second half of the XVI century, starting the transition from Plateresque to Romanism. He was influenced by Castillan Renaissance and he was one of the most important sculptors of the Basque Country. We can consider his masterpiece the series of altarpieces in Navarra, where Lapoblacion is the main one. He also took part in the altarpiece of Itziar, Nuestra Señora la Real in Zarautz and San Andrés in Eibar, his masterpiece, in Gipuzkoa. We know that he intervened the Bilar (El Villar) altarpiece in Alava.
