Issue no. 47, 1 (2002-1) of the International Revue of Basque Studies (RIEV) covers the main fields of Basque culture and society through the articles published in the Tribuna section, in addition to the customary Reseña section -where commentaries are made on the latest and most outstanding publications on Basque topics- Tesis -the list of doctoral theses defended in the universities of Vasconia and -commentaries on those related to Basque culture- and Noticia -on the most outstanding cultural events within the Basque Studies Society and in the Basque Country. María Bueno, in her article on Basque literature written in Castilian Spanish produced from 1985 to the year 2000. Bartolomé Clavero reflects on the right to one's own culture within state structures but attending to human rights, with special reference to the Basque case. José Guimón, contributes with an article titled Amable Arias en la vanguardia Vasca (Amable Arias in the Basque forefront), where he illustrates the relation between the plastic and literary productions of this artist with certain circumstances of his life. Also, Fernando Mikelarena presents an article on data bases in the Internet and digital supports, an unquestionable starting point for research on human and social sciences in Vasconia. Finally, giving continuity to his History of the Art of Vasconia, Juan Plazaola devotes this chapter to Romanesque art.
