Summary

The bombing of Gernika is the most widely known event of the Spanish Civil War in the Basque Country. From 1939 to the present day, the bombing has been represented very many times in cinema, contributing to form historical memory and converting the raid on that Biskaian town into a symbol of peace, and of the struggle against fascism and for Basque self-government.
