Summary

We study the behaviours of two navigators of the 19th century, native of Plentzia, Gorliz and Barrika, who throughout the final decades of the century suffered the technological change of motor-powered navigation which replaced traditional sailing. They left navigation to work on land, in trade in Bilbao and in the Tobacco Trade in the Philippines.
