Summary

Issue no. 29 of the Vasconia magazine, of the History and Geography Section, has just been published. This clearly means that we are before a consolidated project of research dissemination within the Section. In this volume we find eight research projects in a reduced format for their publication in the magazine and a bibliographical digest of Contemporary History of the Basque Country. The research is centred in a chronology that is goes from the Middle Ages to Contemporary times and deals with various topics: geopolitics, demography and population, the world of families and lineages. It also deals with the world of economy and cooperativism and the world of religion, in its institutional aspect, parishes, and their heterodox aspect, witchcraft. The bibliographical digest is an indispensable working tool for specialists on Basque history in particular and for the non-professional public as a rule. It allows us to keep abreast of what is published and avoid the heavy, irksome and difficult task of locating specific bibliography on a concrete topic. This digest covers what was published in 1997 on the statutory regime, the Carlist wars, the Restoration, the II Republic and the civil war, Franquism, the Transition and Democracy. It also covers the doctoral theses defended in the 1997 academic year in the universities of the Basque Country, Deusto, Navarre, Public University of Navarre and others like the UNED, Zaragoza and Provenza where research on Basque topics were also defended. The bibliographical digest ends with an addendum to the previous digests corresponding to the years 1995 and 1996.
