Summary

Issue 31 of Vasconia magazine has just come out. Vasconia, an organ of dissemination, mainly, of the research carried out by the members of the History - Geography Section in EI-SEV, although it also publishes external contributions. This issue contains fourteen research projects in a reduced format for their publication and a bibliographical digest on the History of Vasconia. The research work concentrates on the period from the Middle Ages to contemporary times and is on various themes: trade, forest development, onomastics, navigation, industrialisation, civil war, banking and finances, the anti-Franco struggle and labour and its relationship to the safety, hygiene and housing. The bibliographical repertoire is a unavoidable tool for specialists on Basque history, since it allows them to be up-to-date on publications and avoid the heavy, irksome and difficult task of locating specific bibliography on a concrete topic. It contains everything that has been published in 1998 on Archives, Documentary Funds, Libraries, Bibliography and Historiography, ancient history, the Middle Ages, the Modern and Contemporary Ages. The latter is then also subdivided into the following paragraphs: statutory regime, Carlist wars, the Restoration, the 2nd Republic and the civil war, the Franquist regime, the transition and democracy.
