Summary

Housing itself has been, throughout history, an exponent of the social level of the owners thereof. This was also the way various enriched "indianos" understood matters once they returned to Bergara in the 17th century. They all obtained new housing in accordance with their economic level. However, their position reference to architectural considerations was different: apparently, the fact that the house stood out in the urban setting was more important for them than the stylistic language used in its construction.
