The corn was brought from America to Gipuzkoa by Gonzalo Percaistegui, from Hernani. The author attempts to clarify when he lived and when corn was first grown in Gipuzkoa. Corn had already been sown in 1521, it is therefore safe to deduce that Percaistegui must have lived during the dicovery of America
