Summary

In Ethiopia, he manages to set up two missions, which he preserves: Lazarist (Abyssinia 1839) and Capucin (Gallas 1845). In Europe, he continues hismissionary tasks through donations, intercessions and the entrusting of three Ethiopian young boys. He encourages the clergy´s scientific research (castle observatory) and the research, translations and original writings by bascological priests. He was a charitable man and a devout moralist, hostile to slavery but a conservative nonetheless. Antoine d´Abbadie represents an important Christian trend at the end of the 19th century in France.
