Summary

This book collects the medieval documentation from four municipalities that, in those times had a markedly rural character, reflected in many of the documents that are transcribed therein: agreements, demarcation writs, division of terrains... Another outstanding characteristic is the existence of numerous terrains that used to belong to unpopulated hamlets and which were then used by the remaining villages. This rural character is unexpected due to the foundation in the territory of two towns like Alegría and Elburgo which cannot overcome the proximity of Vitoria and Salvatierra, to the point that at the end of the 15th century Vitoria was to have jurisdiction on both towns. Such jurisdiction was to be added to that excercised by the Ayalas on Iruraiz and by the Guevaras on Barrundia, Gamboa and Asparrena.
