The participant observation, by the author of this article, of the performance Andar por hablar o viceversa given at the Artium centre of contemporary art in Vitoria/Gazteiz on the 7th October 2011, allows an exploration of the role of humour and absurd in the work of Esther Ferrer. The article analyses the uses and meanings of those practices in contemporary art.
