Transcription of a note on the Basque language Basque language that Humboldt wrote in reply to a petition made by Fischer, a German traveler that came to the Basque Country in 1797 and 1798. Humboldt considers that the Basque language has a great quantity of its own words although it has some common roots with Latin, German and Greek. He mentions some of the works that could be consulted. The author of the article believes that Humboldt wrote this note in the second half of 1800
