In the 16th century a group of Navarrans together with members of the oligarchy from Gipuzkoa formed part of the Compañía Guipuzcoana de Caracas, and thereinafter of the Compañía Guipuzcoana of Havana and of the Bank of San Carlos. These societies were in full economic expansion at the beginning of the 18th century. The author mentions the Navarrans and Gipuzkoans that formed part of these companies and their descendants, and their participation in these companies
