Several judicial processes, produced the 16th and 19th centuries, are preserved in the Royal and General Archive of Navarre. Although they were written in Spanish, they ocassionally include short passages in Basque, stated by witnesses during the interrogations. In this work we analyse this type of attestations of Basque language in three sorcery processes from the 16th century —two of them unknown until now—, from the viewpiont of historical dialectology and linguistics. Moreover, we also discuss the wealth, relevance and reliability of this sort of texts for the history of Basque.
