Summary

The study of the distribution of mitochondrial DNA haplogroups in ancient skeletal remains offers us additional information in a time context that can contribute to explain human evolutionary history. Multivariant analyses of the results obtained in ancient samples and in current populations continue indicating the existence of a geographical difference in populations in the east-west axis (axis 1). A difference in populations has also been observed in time (axis 2). Philogenetic interpretation of such results requires the analysis of haplogroup sequences.
