Summary

The author considers that sword dances were an adjustment of stick dances and that in the mining regions, peasants used swords to make more noise. In regions which were far from mining zones the peasants continued using sticks. The similarities between Basque and English dances are analysed, together with the purpose of folkloric dances and the meaning of some steps and characteristics. The author also studies different types of dances originating from several places
