Summary

Even though history teachers have studied mostly general history, their field of research has tended to be local, and these pieces of work are incorporated into the history of the nation-state. Yet there is little reflection on the subordination of this phenomenon. As far as we Basque historians are concerned, it would be good to adoptan outward looking view (not necessarily towards Spain). In this respect, an interesting proposal could be transnational history, because it connects better than academic andpost-modern history with the changes that are taking place in society, economics or politics.
