Summary
Mixed dances both "crossing hands", "loose dances" and "partner dances", have occupied much of young people´s leisure time for centuries. There was considerable opposition from some church authorities. Since its implementation, and even overlapping with the main dance in the Basque context, the Aurresku, "loose dances" have allowed for developing performer creativity.
