Summary
The history of printing in the Basque Country starts when the printing press was introduced in Pamplona just a few years after its invention by Gutenberg. The first printed book was published in 1492. Printed matter was thereinafter published in Bilbao (1577), San Sebastián (1675) and Vitoria-Gasteiz (1722). The printing press in Tolosa was devoted mainly to editing works on the Basque Country
