Summary

In the context of globalization, local communities generate their own identities by means of dialectic processes. These identities are exalted with a double objective: promoting the municipality in the exterior at the same time as internally they do the function of social binding of the community with its politicians to promote governance. The case of a municipality from the metropolitan periphery illustrates this thesis.
