Summary

The strong industrialisation process experienced in Biskaia from the end of the Second Carlist War brought about the configuration of certain new elites that, in combination with the development of sport as a pastime, had to generate new spaces in which to relate with each other and practice the new sports. Two of these spaces of sociability were the Maritime Club of the Abra and the Real Sporting Club.
