Summary

Leizarraga translated into Basque the New Testament and the catechism of Calvin. He had some collaborators and they were Tartas, La Rive, Landetcheverry y Tardets. The article unveils a 17th century document titled "Synodes du Béarn" and the part that refers to Leizarraga is transcribed. The conclusion is that Leizarraga did not begin his translation in 1565, he was appointed minister in 1567, he had to know Basque well because he was in charge of the teaching of the children of three of his collaborators and he died between 1599 and 1601
