Summary

The foundation of villas during the Middle Ages brought peace as a consequence. In the Basque Country there was no war between races with the consequent confiscation of properties, and in quieter zones in coastal Europe, there was a certain increase in trade, navigation and fishing and, in consequence, the establishment of commercial deposits and factories
