Summary

The author analyzes the problem of alcoholism in the Basque Country, which is very serious in comparison with the rest of the State. The author concludes that to reduce the problems related to alcohol the population´s level of consumption should be reduced, however this is difficult since it would bring about economic problems and there would be a social cost in the countries in which it is introduced. The author analyzes the social and cultural paper of alcohol in society in general and in Basque society in particular
