Summary

The thousands of people who participate in the frenetic carnivals in Copenhagen and Aarhus during the Pentecostal period are simply repeating a long-standing European tradition; the only thing that changes is the date. Current carnivals take place anywhere between Copenhagen and Rio de Janeiro, but, taking into account the cold temperatures in Denmark during the Carnival season, they are now held in Pentecost, and it has thus lost its sense as a religious ritual.
