Summary

The phonogram has been conceived as an industrial product instead of a cultural means, and therefore many libraries did not tend to include the sound recording among their material. The media library is thus a library which is open to all types of documents whichever their format. The most effective means for a library to become a media library is through the phonoteque that is made up of records and cassettes. Such materials would be classified by subject matters with a section devoted to all the existing material independently of its format
