Summary

The article analyses the flexibilisation of an invented tradition such as the Flower Offering to the Virgin in Valencia during the "Fallas" (local festivities). During the Franquist period the offering was used to promote National-Catholicism, and now with the accelerated secularisation it has become a ritual in which to promote the Valencian festive identity, while it is inserted into Valencia´s international tourist offer.
