Summary

In the field of his historical studies of the origins of the populations of Hispania and Gaul, Fréret felt the need to know the Basque language. For this purpose he was to develop in 1714, together with a brief Basque grammar, a Vocabulaire Basque tire de la traduction du Nouveau Testament par Leiçarraga, a manuscript vocabulary which we are now reproducing for the first time.
