Summary

Basque immigrants came from places in which social meetings were considered indispensable. This made us wonder if the economic success of the Basque sociability spaces in the pampas, mainly inns and hotels, was not due to the fact that they were presented as places intended for social meetings. This must have strongly contributed to the conformation of an ethnic identity.
