Summary

This paper deals with the settlement of the Peruvian migrants and the construction of a new urban territoriality started by them in the past decade in Santiago de Chile. Following an ethnographic perspective, the paper observes the production of an original urban space marked by the importance of new economies and the appropriation of public space. It also analyses the construction of guidelines of interaction with autochthon/local population, and some urban practices of mobility. This set of elements supports social meanings and relations which go far beyond established national and urban borders.
