Summary

The first result of modern Basque story writing came to us in the book Hunik arrats artean (1970) by Anjel Lertxundi. What stood out were the influences of the magic realism of South America as well as those of the theatre and story writing of the absurd. Since then, story writing has become a modern autonomous literary genre for adults within the narrative. The development is truly new in Basque literature, and at the same time very late if we compare the development this genre has undergone in other literatures around us.
