Summary

To analyze the situation of the Basque language in the universities of the Basque Country, this study has been centred on the teachers, since they are more indicative. To carry out this study, the study of global statistics was not considered sufficient, and therefore the data provided by the universities were studied even more profoundly. In the Basque region, including Navarre and the French Basque Country, there are five important university institutions, both public and private, and work concentrated on the teachers, although more concretely in those adscribed to the Public University of the Basque Country, showing furthermore that it is in this university where most of the Basque-speaking teachers work.
