Summary
The first melodies recorded in Basque date from the year 1900. In the Universal Exhibition held in Paris during that year some Basque songs were recorded, together with certain readings of texts in Basque, by means of a system that was in accordance with the technology of the era. In order to commemorate the first centennial of such recordings, Eusko Ikaskuntza has decided to publish them in CD-ROM with the intention of showing that the Basque language and technological development have always been together.
