Summary

The paradigm of sustainable development contains the keys for future development and development the future perspectives. It is now necessary to progress at the global, regional, European Union, national, autonomic and local levels. In the global level, this demands reinforcing strategies, capacities and collective effort. At the European Union level there are policies and ways to make policies within the so-called Agenda that Change that incorporates a follow-up and evaluation system based on the so-called Structural Indicators. At the Spanish level the framework is being set up in order to make headway at the national level using the European Union as a reference. A necessary instrument of evaluation and follow-up of the situation has already been set up, and that is the Spanish Observatory of Sustainability.
