Summary

To the data already presented by the author in some other works, it is added that Vaquedano was most likely born in Puente la Reina (Navarra) and was baptised on the 20th March 1642 ; that at first, it was not his intention to become a composer, but a singer, and that during his youth he used to sing following the new style, the Baroque. this datum, if it proves to be true, would be very important, as it would demonstrate that this new fashion of singing, introduced in Italy by Caccini and Rossi, was already known in Spain by the middle of the XVIIth century. His music surprises by its modernity, not only for its melodies -in which he proves to be a master of the "Belcanto"- but for the way he handles the counterpoint as well
