Summary

The epidemiological and health effects of War against the French Revolution (1793-95) had a deep impact on the army population all along the Pyrenean border. The study we introduce analyzes the different areas of the Navarre and Guipúzcoa front, that is the incidence of putrid fevers, the sanitary resources, especially hospitals erected to that end. The macroeconomic effects on the epidemic take on a particular interest, as well as its cost and the extremely high morbidity rate, together with a moderate mortality rate.
