Summary

This paper deals with the vinicultural pioneers of Argentina. In particu-lar: Balbino Arizu, Sotero Arizu, Leoncio Arizu, Pedro Bilbao Arrola (later Alcalde Bilbao), Santiago and Narciso Goyenechea. The building of the former Arizu wine warehouse in Godoy Cruz, Mendoza, nowadays listed as a National Heritage Site. Finca La Vasconia. The fifth generation of Goyenecheas in charge of the company, Domingo Faustino Sarmiento and Juan Bautista Alberdi.
