Summary

The present text was written in Spanish in Larrau. The shepherds of the village knew that the mountain lands in Betzula were property of the Navarran monastery of Leyre, but that as from the 15th century, their usufruct corresponded to the Larraintarras and that they were making annual payments. I remember that Leyre, after the expropiation by Mendizabal, lost its properties in the 19th century. Larrau there was to change from usufruct to property, but the shepherds union of ; Zuberoa wrongfully retained its property for over a hundred years. It is interesting that the text includes the names of most of the houses of Larrau and the first names of their owners, the way this was done in the 17th century, that is to say, in the ancient usage.
