Summary

In 1375, there already were Juntas (provincial parliament), although these were only partial,as the province of Gipuzkoa had not yet been constituted. This was formed when the Brotherhood was established by order of the King in 1451. The Juntas then held the ordinary or general sessions, as well as some special sessions in the event of death, by mandate of the King or because of war. All the villages had to send their representatives, who had to be aged over 25, had to be literate in Castilian, and had to have businesses experience, etc. The Juntas were suppressed in 1876
